Flags: Political / Social Correctness

Considering why there is a glaring absence of flags in the area (central Virginia). No US Flags, and no Confederate Flags. Political Correctness gone astray? Idoeno. Even for memorial day... no flags. The root of the problem is connected to how some people view the Confederate Flag. It offends them, so to be politically and socially correct no one displays any flags.... US or Confederate. Why? And why be offended? The American civil war involved a lot of history. The history that we were taught, as well as what to believe was certainly tainted. Just as today's media puts a spin on everything so that it meets their agenda... so has mainstream history conveniently left out or changed key elements and facts. The civil war is no exception. Over 600,000 Americans died fighting for their freedoms, their way of life, and the right for a government that recognized state governments. Americans, veterans, US citizens... both of the north and south gave their all for what they believed. For years after the war, reconciliation, recovery, rebuilding, and the bring together a nation was the first concern. All the sacrifices, all the deaths, all the suffering, and all the history. Today, those under the impression that slavery was the only basis for war wish to open old wounds and incite social division. And now, under that impression, all things confederate should be abolished. Memorials, statues, and anyone flying the confederate flag should be condemned. There are even groups trying to abolished reenactments. Really? Don't you have more pressing concerns about issues today that affect us all... rather than the misconception of what happened over 150 years ago... because it offends you. You have no honor, and dishonor all those that fought and died in the war. So today, everyone needs to be politically and socially correct, bowing to those that feel offended, and no one flies the Confederate Flag... which in reality wasn't even the official flag of the Confederacy. What we know today as the Confederate Flag was the "battle flag" of the army of northern Virginia. So much for what you think you know.

Renewed inspiration

Retirement for the third time.... the final time.
Aside from helping out around the house, the outlook is for much more time to do things.
There's relaxing to music (gotta love MP3 players), getting back to listening to my collection of audio books, and having the time to Blog. I haven't posted much the past couple of years despite good intentions. Just too busy working which greatly impedes creativity. So here's to a new start and igniting creativity and imagination.
So what inspires me? Nature for a start... and the beautiful countryside here in Virginia.
We are visiting our daughter and grand girls for an extended stay to enjoy family and the beauty of nature here in Virginia. History will also play a part in new adventures, especially civil war history. Virginia is rich in civil war history. Our starting location point is close to home at the Cedar Mountain Battlefield just south of Culpeper. We are also about 40 miles away from Skyline Drive. Looking forward to picnic lunches atop the mountains relaxing and enjoy the views. More to follow shortly as I regain inspiration.
